Fresh Summer Mussels and a Delcious Sauvignon Blanc
2011-08-08 14:44:41
Summer is coming to an end and what better way to celebrate the nice weather we've had than with a fresh food and wine pairing? We have a new wine in the store produced by Lucien Crochet from Sancerre, France made with pure sauvignon blanc grapes. Downright musky as well as hinting at white truffle and chalk dust, Crochet’s 2008 Sancerre Clos du Roy delivers another Chablis-like concentration of salted meat stock with herbs and chalk, the whole drenched in refreshingly juicy lime and grapefruit. This terrific value finishes with invigorating, dynamic, interactive, near kaleidoscopic complexity of animal, herbal, citrus, and mineral elements and should be worth relishing over the next half dozen years. We suggest that you pair this wine with some fresh Mussels in white wine sauce. We have found a recipe from Barefoot Contessa herself, Ina Garten, that is simple and easy to follow. 2011-08-12 14:58:02
This Just In! A new White Spanish wine in the store: the 2010 Zuazo Gatson White Rioja Wine from Oyon, Spain. This is a very unique wine: a Rioja Blanco in the vein of Ostatu! Fresh, clean, super crisp with beautifully intense aromatics of green apples. Super racy on the palate with a kiss of tropical fruits. There is nothing else on the market like it, try it today for only $14.99!! We've decided to pair this delicious fresh Spanish white with a cultural Jambalaya dish from Eula Mae. Grilled Swordfish and White Sylvaner from Alsace, France
2011-08-15 15:02:57
This is an extremely easy yet very delicate and elegant pairing of delicious wine and food. The 2009 Domaine Ostertag Sylvaner white wine from Alsace, France has Pear and apple pungently laced with sage mark the nose and glossy, generous palate of Ostertag’s 2009 Sylvaner Vieilles Vignes, which finishes with welcome hints of chalk and saliva-inducing salt, as well as a surprising sense of delicacy given its softness and the proclivities of the vintage. This type of refreshing white wine pairs excellently with a fresh white fish. We have chosen to pair this wine with a Grilled Swordfish recipe we found from Food Network Chef, Giada De Laurentiis. A simplistic no-brainer, this dish is smothered in lemon, mint, and fresh basil. You can find the full recipe and instructions here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/grilled-swordfish-with-lemon-mint-and-basil-recipe/index.html. Come in the store to get the Sylvaner for only $27.99.
