Live Like Your On Vacation
2012-01-06 19:36:07
At Tewksbury, we want our customers to feel relaxed and stress free when they drink any product from our shop-- similar to when you are on vacation. A classic dish to dine on in the Caribbean or an Island in the tropics is scallops. Prepared a variety of ways, this succulent yet fluffy seafood will satisfy the craving of any vacationer looking to taste the fruits of the sea. We have chosen a scallops recipe for you all to try that combines both vacation & the heart of the winter. The recipe is for pan seared scallops but has a side of yukon gold mashed potatoes. This pairing will warm your kitchen and quench your craving to get away to the warmth during the winter. Wash these scallops down with one of our featured wines for the week, the 2009 Olivier Lefflaive "Les Setilles" Bourgogne Blanc. The perfect progeny, melding fleshy fruit, plump fresh nuts and creamy textures with the driving minerally energy and jasmine scent of Puligny. An Opportunity Too Good to Miss!
2012-01-12 21:54:33
We are having a very special guest tonight, Friday January 13, at the shop! Head winemaker from Trinchero Napa Valley, Mario Monticelli, will be at our store tonight from 4-7pm. Monticelli will be pouring and discussing his impressive Napa Valley Wines. We carry a variety of his wines at the store-- one of them being the 2008 Trinchero "Haystack Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon from Atlas Peak in Napa Valley. Mario Monticelli discusses this wine: "Our Haystack Cabernet is true to its mountain origins, boasting great structure, intense purple color and violet aromatics. Firm tannins are gracefully balanced by luscious blackberry and blueberry flavors with nuances of coffee, baking spice and cocoa. This is a wine that I think has incredible ageability, but, like all my wines, should drink well upon release too." Haystack Vineyard is nestled way up in Atlas Peak, Napa Valley's highest appellation that sits 1,500 feet above sea level in the Vaca Mountains. This craggy, extremely rocky site stresses the vines, resulting in small, intensely concentrated berries. Cabernet Sauvignon is a great wine for winter dishes-- Filet Mignon anyone? COME BY THE STORE TONIGHT and get your new bottle of any of the Trinchero wines signed by Mario Monticelli himself. We are so excited such an impressive figure in the wine industry!

Survive the Winter with Malbec
2012-01-19 22:30:51
Well we were wondering when Winter was going to come-- I think it is safe to say it is officially here and officially COLD! Don't let the cold weather get you down-- instead, stop by the shop and pick up one of the 2008 Pulenta Estate Malbec from Alto Agrelo Mendoza. For all of you white-wine-only people, a malbec is a great transition into red wine and a little bit warmer than your daily chardonnay for the winter months. We are loving this malbec: it is brimming with elegance, structure and silky tannins, it has a saturated plum color, and leads to aromas of rose petals and graphite. The luscious mid-palate swells with flavors of ripe plum and cherry with a touch of fresh blackberries towards the end. The fine, powdery tannins and a robust, herbal-infused, lengthy finish leave a lasting impression. Pair this wine with any mexican dish or red beef that can stand up to the robust flavors of the malbec. We suggest bean and beef chimichangas-- this one is great for the whole family- but only the adults get to wash it down with our featured malbec. Give it a try: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/beef-and-bean-chimichangas/

Karlsson's Gold Vodka Tasting
2012-01-26 21:13:55
This Saturday, January 28th from 2-6 pm we are having a vodka tasting at the store! We will be tasting Karlsson's Gold vodka-- the liquor is hand-made from a blend of seven varieties of virgin potatoes from the exclusive Cape Bjare in the south of Sweden. It is meticulously distilled once, in an unfiltered process that conserves the inherent characteristics of the unique ingredients, producing a revolutionary concept - a vodka with natural taste. Savor it neat, on the rocks, or in a martini. We found a great drink mix that is easy to make at home and sounds VERY tasty-- "The Swede Life" · The Swede Life is a light and herbal cocktail that will pair with any dish being served for dinner (perfect for buffet style cocktail parties)
Recipe:
2 oz Karlsson’s vodka
3/4 oz lime juice
3/4 oz simple syrup
4-5 basil leaves
Splash of Champagne or sparkling wine
In a highball muddle basil, add rocks then pour vodka, lime and sugar, top with champagne and stir with a bar spoon.
