About the Winery

From their domaine in Dezizes-les-Maranges, brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet, oversee an enviable catalogue of top Côte de Beaune vineyards: St. Aubin En Remilly, the top sites in Maranges, Puligny 1er Cru Folatières, Puligny 1er Cru Referts, Batard Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet, and some of the best parcels in Santenay. Since their first vintage in 2005, they have refined their approach to farming and winemaking to the point where they are now firmly established as two of Burgundy’s finest talents. The comparisons to some of Burgundy’s elites make complete sense as the resulting wines are breathtakingly layered, racy, and achingly long.

About the Wine

A miniscule site of  only 1.1 ha (2.72 acres). The 30+ year old vines for this wine are at the highest elevation vineyard in Maranges, sitting between 984 feet and 1,312 feet above sea level. Situated on deeper clay soils typical of the Chambolle-Musigny Village appellation, the vines are harvested with organic practices. After harvest, the grapes are fermented indigenous yeasts. Aged for 12 months in barrel (20% new) and 6 months in tank. Bottled unfiltered. The style of the Lignier-Michelot wines is dramatic and opulent, with cores of fruit, excellent expressions of terroir, and the balance and structure to allow graceful aging in the cellar. The relatively recent history of selling all their production in bottles has kept the domaine’s profile relatively low key at the present time, which translates into outstanding opportunities for good value.

Critical Acclaim

“Alexandre and Marc Bachelet have been on fire over recent vintages…My budget would be invested in the outstanding Maranges premier crus such as Fussière and Clos de la Boutière that I strongly suspect will represent some of the best values over the entire of the Côte d’Or…and if I were a millionaire, I would still buy them. ”–Neil Martin, Vinous

“The 2018 tasting reinforced my view that not only is Domaine Bachelet-Monnot at the very forefront of white Burgundy production, but that they have made serious strides with their red wines too.” -Jasper Morris MW, InsideBurgundy.com

About the Winery

The members of the Giuseppe Mascarello family have been growing wines for more than a century and a half, first as farmers running the Manescotto estate in the village of La Morra for the marchesa Giulia Colbert Faletti di Barolo, and then on their own property since 1881. The Mascarello family property extends over 15 hectares of vineyards, all located within the Barolo wine-growing area. Some, like the MONPRIVATO vineyard, can now be said to be a part of the family history, while the grapes grown on others were first purchased by 4th generation Mauro before–having had the opportunity to ascertain their quality–he managed to buy the vineyards for the estate. The grapes from each single vineyard are vinified separately, a procedure that allows for the making of wines of the highest quality and with their own particular properties, varying from vineyard to vineyard. The name of the vineyard and the village where it is located are given on the label of each wine.

About the Wine

With vines perched on Santo Stefano hill in the village of Monforte d’Alba, the grapes are harvested in the beginning of October, then vinified traditionally followed by ageing in medium-sized Slavonian oak barrels for around 6-8 months. When poured, expect garnet red hues with purplish highlights to shine through the glass. On the nose anticipate intense, fruity aromas of ripe grapes. The wine has an impressively round mouthfeel with well-balanced tannins and beautiful structure. Perfect to accompany Hors d'oeuvres as well as entrees of red meats.

About the Winery

The historic Mas de Daumas Gassac was founded in 1974 by Aimé & Véronique Guibert. While the couple were keen on planting crops, they weren't certain which crops would thrive until a soil scientist from the University of Bordeaux tested the glacial limestone soils (akin to those in the Cote d'Or) and convinced them to plant grapes. Today, winemaker Samuel Guibert and his four brothers each manage different aspects of the family business. The valley, which benefits from the nearby sea and mountains, is dotted with a patchwork of small, forest-enclosed parcels that span over 40 different grape varieties. Several years back, the Guibert family began working with a neighboring cooperative in Sète to produce fun, full-flavored wines from the surrounding countryside and rocky hillsides. Organic farming is de rigueur and the vinification is closely overseen by the Guibert family. The results are splendidly aromatic wines that bring out the terroir of this Mediterranean region. The Moulin de Gassac wines are named after the patron saint of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, one of the most stunningly beautiful villages in Europe drawing people from all over the world. There is a delicious aromatic white, a luscious dry rosé, and a lovely fleshy, spicy, garrigue-influenced red.

About the Wine

Coming from vineyards in the area around the Thau Lagoon, near the village of Pinet (Languedoc); the 25-50 year old sustainably farmed vines are situated on clay and limestone soils. 100% destemmed and direct pressed in order to get those traditional pink, salmon hues. Aged for five to six months in stainless steel. Always one of the first rosés to hit the market, this traditional Southern Rhone blend boasts pleasant, yet animated aromas with strawberries and other bright red fruits. Crisp, with good body and structure, this rosé is a sure crowd-pleaser year after year.40% Grenache, 40% Cinsault, 20% Carignan
