What To Look For In Your New Jersey Wine Store

What To Look For In Your New Jersey Wine Store

What does your local New Jersey wine store offer besides, of course, the opportunity to buy wine?

You can find wine for sale at almost any liquor store. Most stores stock only less expensive, more common brands. Grocery stores often stock a wide range of wines, from inexpensive up to bottles costing over $200; however, both of these options lack a real variety, a knowledgeable staff and the real opportunity to learn more about wine.

If you are looking to do more than simply buy wine, if you are looking to learn more about wine, then you want more than just a liquor or grocery store. You want a store staffed with people who have a vast knowledge of various alcohols. A store with a “customer comes first” attitude that can fulfill any wine need and answer any wine question. Whether you’re looking for a simple Merlot or an elegant French Burgundy, the store must cater to the most basic or distinguished palate.

More Than Just Selling Wineman pouring wine

Look for stores that offer more than just the usual reds and whites. Look for a wide range of varietals, apart from Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Riesling. You want to see wines from many different countries, not just the California, France and Italy. Stores that offer in-store and private tastings can help educate you further, not to mention staff who have specific knowledge of regions and varietals. This way any question you may have can be answered.

Remembering Your Palate

Does your local New Jersey wine store remember your palate once you’ve purchased wine from them? It

sounds a bit strange, but if you are already very into wine, this is one of the best features of a wine store. Even if you are just making your first forays into wine, having a staff that can remember wines you’ve enjoyed or disliked in the past can go a long way in making future recommendations to you.

Remembering Your Name

It may not sound important, but having a local wine store remember your name is simply one of those little things that, as a customer, you do not appreciate until it happens. Particularly when it comes to wine. Similar to remembering your palate, remembering a name can help the staff recall your preferences and help make recommendations. And obviously it makes you feel appreciated as a local New Jersey customer.

Remembering Your Past Purchases

You will want to look for a wine store that tracks all of your past purchases, along with your palate and preferences. A wine store that tracks a customer’s purchases is better equipped to not recommend a wine you’ve had before (if you enjoyed it), not to mention avoiding recommending wines you disliked in the past.

A good wine store should not be all about the money. They should pride themselves in making sure that every customer has a great experience.
