Tonight: Special Guest Michael Peters of the famed Pierre's Restaurant will be joining us with three of his favorite wines!
|

Michael Peters, former owner and head chef of Pierre's Restaurant, has stepped off the line and is now following his second great passion; wine. He will be at the shoppe tonight from 4:30 to 7:30 pm pouring three of his favorite wines for us to taste. Need wine and food pairing advice? Here's your chance!
The wines:
2012 Rafael Palacios 'Louro' Do Bolo Godello - $22.99/$19.54

Rafael Palacios is the brother of Spain’s leading winemaker and BBR stalwart Alvaro Palacios. Rafael has headed to the green north-west Atlantic influenced vines of the DO of Valdeoras, which is located windward of Rueda, not too far to the north of the Portugal border and the River Miño. The jewel here is the white variety Godello, which is now achieving recognition similar to that latterly afforded to Albarino and Verdejo. Sandy soils with granite substratum allied to historical terraced vineyards add up to hard work, small yields and a concomitant high level of quality.
Yellow-green of hue, the wine has an indulgent nose of hazelnut, guava, pear-skin and hints of mango. Quietly if not totally tropical, with its indulgent foretaste confirmed on the palate, the wine has a gently leesy undercurrent and a lick of sour honey at the back of the mouth.
2009 Hacienda Monasterio Ribera del Duero Crianza - $49.99/$42.49

93 Points | International Wine Cellar , September/October 2012
(80% tempranillo, 15% cabernet sauvignon and 5% merlot, aged for 17 months in French oak): Deep ruby. Ripe, heady aromas of candied plum, blackberry and potpourri. Rich and fleshy in the mouth, with lively acidity lifting the creamy dark berry and rose pastille flavors. Shows impressive depth and concentration, finishing with a suave sweetness and gentle, harmonious tannins.
2010 Thomas George Estate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir - $49.99/$42.49

Succulent red fruit and cherry aromas complement hints of brown spice. Explosive flavors ofwild berry and dark blue fruit dominate the midpalate. Super fine tannins perfectly frame structured acidity which is balanced against full oak integration to create a highly complex finish. Absolutely delicious juice.

Cheese of the Week: Mousseron Jurassien
The Mousseron Jurassien is a firm, raw cow milk tomme crafted in eastern France's Jura mountains. This marvelous cheese delivers complex flavors derived from the lush vegetation of the region. It is smaller than its larger cousin, Comté, so the Mousseron Jurassien matures more quickly, developing its full flavor at a younger age. The mushroom name (Mousseron) reflects the distinct flavor which gives this cheese a savory and light fruity finish. This cheese pairs well with Rhone and Merlot-dominant Bordeaux red wines, Bordeaux blanc, Muscadet, Rieslings, as well as lagers and wheat beers.

Come by and taste this cheese with us tonight!
