About the Wine The 2011 Mascarello Scudetto Barbera D'Alba Barbera is an astounding from one of our favorite Italian producers. The wine is simply MARVELOUS. Amazing flavors and a well-balanced palate give this wine plenty of character. It is powerful and slightly tannic; perfect for pairing with red meat and cheeses. We always love the wine that Mascarello produces, and this one is without a doubt one of their best! About the Winery The Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio estate has a long history in the Piedmonte region of Italy. Fourth generation owner Mauro Mascarello currently runs the winery. The traditionally-styled winery dates back to the mid-1800s when Giuseppe Mascarello made a name for himself by managing the vineyards of other landowners. Today, the estate is considered one of the greatest Barolo producers.

The soil of Les Hauts-Conseillants is a clay/gravel bed mixed with sand. This allows for great drainage and is optimal for growing Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
