About the Wine 2014 had a picture perfect growing season with warm days and cool nights throughout harvest in Sonoma County. The fruit for this wine came from several vineyards in the Middle Reach of Sonoma’s Russian River Valley. Smaller yields than the 2013 vintage, this wines expression is more intense. Golden straw in color. Bold aromas of apple, honeydew, white flowers and citrus notes. Flavors center around apple, apricot, minerality and a hint of oak. Finishes with a rich texture and flavors that linger. 2015 Fulcrum Durell Vineyard Chardonnay $49.99 / $42.49 About the Winery Fulcrum is a winemaker’s winery, where no corners are ever cut. It is guided solely by David’s palate and a winemaking vision that has been developed over more than 20 years. From this vision, David produces a small portfolio of vineyard- and appellation-designated Fulcrum wines. At the heart of David’s vision for Fulcrum was the idea that more is not always better, and that a wine should offer a seamless combination of fruit expression, acid, tannin, alcohol, oak influence and age-worthiness. Since these wines are made in limited quantities, grapes from a handful of acclaimed sites in the Anderson Valley, Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, Carneros and Chalone appellations are all that is used.
About the Wine Ed Durell planted the first vines in these rock-strewn, windy hills in 1979. Today, the vineyard spans three AVAs: Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Coast and Carneros. Millions of years ago it was part of a sand bar jutting into a prehistoric lake on the site where the town of Sonoma lies today. The use of high skin-to-flesh ratio that makes for great concentration of varietal character. Fermentation begins with native yeast strains, and the wine receives minimal handling throughout the aging period. David works hard to stay out of the way and bring forward the truest expression of the vineyard possible. The 2015 Durell Chardonnay explodes from the glass with huge amounts of exotic fruits, sweet butter and orange marmalade. The palate is very rich, but with enough natural acidity to provide lift and definition. The finish is apricots, peaches and hints of saury oak. 2014 Fulcrum Landy Vineyard Pinot Noir $54.99 / $46.74
About the Winemaker In the early 1990s, David found his own craft when he started making small lots of wine in his basement in New Jersey. More than being just a simple home winemaker, he soon began flying in Riesling and Gewurztraminer grapes from Washington, Malbec from Argentina, and Petite Sirah, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir from California, ultimately making up to forty 10-gallon lots of wine each vintage. He also formed relationships with local winegrowers in Monmouth County N.J., helped to plant new vineyards and gained extensive hands-on viticultural experience. .JPG)
About the Wine Located in the heart of the Middle Reach of the Russian River Valley AVA, Landy is poised above the cloudline on rock soils. This renowned vineyard’s elevation ranges from 300 to 1000 feet above sea level creating a variety of microclimates. This dramatic change in elevation allows for cool climate Pinot Noir. Aged for 15 months in 33% new French oak barrels. Only 91 cases produced. Deep garnet in the glass. Sweet aromas of cherry, mineral notes, and holiday spice. Complex and layered flavors of dark cherry, cola and spice. Silky creamy texture that is seductive. The acidity carries the flavors through a long finish. 2014 On Point by Fulcrum Cristinna's Cuvee Pinot Noir $34.99 / $29.74
About the Winery On Point Pinot Noirs. These wines are made in limited quantities using grapes from a handful of acclaimed sites in the Anderson Valley, Russian River Valley, and Sonoma Coast appellations. Though both Fulcrum and On Point capture the meeting point between grace and strength, they offer different stylistic expressions of David’s balanced approach to Pinot Noir. Fulcrum is the most deeply structured expression of David’s winemaking, with On Point offering a softer, yet equally alluring, side of great Pinot Noir.
About the Wine A blend of the renowned Donnelly Creek Vineyard, Gap’s Crown Vineyard, and Landy Vineyards, this Pinot Noir has heritage of some of the finest vineyards in California. Bright ruby color. Dusty rose, spice and graham cracker come through on the nose. Strawberry, cherry, cola, spice and dried herb notes extend to the long finish. Fine-grained tannins and firm acid provide the structure for aging. Well balanced and elegant. * * * |

New York 1925: the subway cost a nickel to ride, the City was in the grip of a heat wave, the New York Giants played their first football game and 2 gentlemen from the Northern Italian Province of Biella decided to open shop in Hell’s Kitchen. Using traditional skills and old-world recipes, they set about offering New York’s rapidly growing population delicious Italian and Mediterranean salumi with an emphasis on quality and flavor. A small, coarse ground, air-cured/dried pork sausage. The recipe originated in the Northern Hills of Italy and is lightly seasoned with red wine and garlic. With added Mediterranean spices to the original Cacciatorini, it shows a modest amount of heat at the back of the palate. The name Cacciatorini comes from the hunters who used to carry these treats in their bags for a quick snack. * * * Have a wonderful week and thank you for your continued support!
