About the Winery: One of the first Pinot Noir vineyards designed and planted in Chile by Pedro Parra in 2007, this 4-hectare vineyard belongs to Albert Cussen and is one of the few vineyards located in the Aconcagua Coast. The very cold, coastal climate at the vineyard is a product of its environment–it’s only about four miles away from the sea in addition to low rainfall yields. The vineyard only sees only about two feet of rain per year mainly in winter and autumn. The soils of the vineyard are complex, with a very ancient parental material, from the Paleozoic area (over 350 million years old). This deposit corresponds to marine sand, which sedimented and turned into hard rock.
About the Wine: Fermented in concrete vats and then aged for about 18 months in new French oak barrels. Upon first pour, expect vivid ruby-red hues. Fragrant aromas jump out of the glass with freshly picked red and black berries followed by sweet spices, smoke, and cola. The mouthfeel is supple and broad on the entry, yet tighter in the midpalate, finishing off with well-balanced tannins, persistence and lingering red fruits. On the palate, expect beautiful layers of zesty bing cherries, rose petals, and touches of black and raspberries.
